Chief of Defence Staff General Sarath Fonseka was allowed to retire with immediate effect as he had lost faith in President Mahinda Rajapaksa as well as the government, the letter sent to the outgoing General by the President’s Secretary and made public today said. -- Sunday, November 15, 2009 6:22:32 PM
